This week at my job at a Twin Cities charter school, I was asked to review their new discipline policy. In accordance with the state of Minnesota, and also the school's own standards, the document stretched 17 pages addressing everything from what constitutes (and how to respond to) food fights, firearms, bullying, sexual harassment, improper dress, etc.

I need to confess something to the blog reading world: I have started to exercise again.
Back in 2011, when I blogged almost daily, I also was exercising often. On August 20, 2011, I walked my first official 5k "race." Hours later, I lived out 30 minutes of terror at the hands of children throwing balls at the lever which then dunked me. The result of the dunk tank experience was a herniated d...

This Woman Writes
There are certain things one simply does not discuss in church circles, and I really don't mean sex, alcohol, the f-word, or thong underwear.
As in most marriages, money is a topic thatcausesa lot of angst and disagreement, and within esoteric church community, tithing -- loosely defined as giving 10 percent of one's income (gross or net?) to the church building one attends on a weekly basis -...

Despite all the chatter about how important oxygen is (and it is), every day we breathe in far more nitrogen. Earth's atmosphere is composed of 78% of the stuff compared to 21% oxygen. A: The answer to this question could go in several directions depending on the amount of the persons own retirement, other benefits received, if th...

This recipe is actually not my own and has been passed around many times, but I thought the idea was too fun not to share. Pulse one package of Oreos in a food processor until its nothing but a pile of Oreo dirt, as my son calls it. Next, add one block of cream cheese and pulse everything together until it just starts to come together, forming a dough. If you dont have a food processor, you can...
