City of Benson recognized as top disability employer
BENSON — The city of Benson has been recognized by the Minnesota Organization for Habilitation and Rehabilitation as an outstanding disability employer.
The city was nominated by the Swift County Developmental Achievement Center. The award comes in conjunction with National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Individuals with disabilities from the Swift County center work in the city in various ways, including mowing parks, painting fire hydrants, cleaning city offices, assembling meter boxes and stenciling safety cones. These tasks not only allow the city to make a good impression for residents and visitors, it also gives those completing the tasks positive feedback and builds morale.
Benson received its award on Oct. 2 during the Benson City Council meeting.
