WILLMAR – Snow is continuing to fall in west central Minnesota, with some regions already reporting more than 10 inches this morning

According to preliminary reports from the National Weather Service, 10 ½ inches of snow has fallen in Bird Island. The same is true for Milroy in Redwood County.

Darwin, located in Meeker County, is reporting 8.3 inches with Montevideo reporting 8 inches in Chippewa County.

An early report from a National Weather Service observer indicates only 2 inches of snow in Spicer, but local highway maintenance crews estimate Kandiyohi County got 4-5 inches of snow this morning.

Weather information the Minnesota Department of Transportation uses indicates snow will continue to fall at a rate of one-tenth of an inch per hour for the rest of the day in the Willmar area.

Northeast winds of 20-30 mph is blowing the snow, which is reducing visibility at times and making travel hazardous.
