With 10 weeks left, United Way of west central Minnesota at 89% of goal
WILLMAR — The United Way of West Central Minnesota has reached 89 percent of its fundraising goal with 10 weeks to go until the June 30 deadline.
The organization has several fundraising events scheduled before the deadline: Empower’s Power of the Purse; the United Way-Bremer Golf Tournament; and the Litchfield Empower’s Race for the Future.
The seventh annual Empower Power of the Purse, a purse auction and home tour, will take place May 11. All funds raised at the event are used toward the female philanthropic group’s goal of preparing area kids for kindergarten.
The golf tournament takes place June 3 at Eagle Creek in Willmar and hopes to draw 120 golfers for the 18- hole scramble and dinner.
The Race for the Future will take place May 18, with funds raised going toward improving early childhood learning in the Litchfield area.
More information and registration for upcoming events can be found at the United Way’s website: www.liveunitedwcm.org or by calling 320-235-1050.
“The community review process, completed last month reminded us that needs are still great in west central Minnesota, therefore every dollar counts as we work towards our $900,000 campaign goal,” Renee Nolting, United Way executive director said in a news release. “Every dollar raised here stays here, and every dollar can make a difference.”
The United Way provides funding to more than 40 area programs. It also operates several in-house programs, including the Imagination Library, Gift In Kind and the Volunteer Center. Another project is the Growmobile, a mobile preschool providing a preschool experience to children in the region throughout the year.
