A State Patrol dispatcher said the accident happened about 10:40 a.m. today as the trooper was writing a ticket.

The dispatcher says the trooper's injuries are not considered life-threatening. Westbound traffic on I-94 was detoured while the crash was investigated. The interstate reopened just after 2 p.m.

It was the second accident injuring a state trooper since a snowstorm swept into Minnesota.

The Star Tribune reports a trooper was clipped by a car Sunday night while outside his squad car trying to help at the scene of a crash on I-394 in Minneapolis. The patrol says the trooper suffered a cut left hand.
