High school students from Kandiyohi County and surrounding districts were invited Tuesday to "Discover Manufacturing," the second annual manufacturing showcase at the Minnwest Technology Campus. Students also had the opportunity to tour local manufacturing businesses, such as Buhler Inc.

The day was designed to show the students what the county's manufacturers do, the skills that are in high demand and the local employment opportunities that could be available to them now or after completing their post-secondary education.

Tuesday's events for students coincide with Minnesota Manufacturing Week this week. And several manufacturers in the region are opening their doors to the public this week as well.

More information about each of these manufacturers, and others statewide, is available online at the Tour of Manufacturing website at www.tourofmanufacturingmn.com, including information about appropriate attire and safety equipment for the tours. Several of the locations require closed-toe shoes, for example, and some require additional safety equipment that will be provided for tour members.
