Olmsted County chief sheriff's deputy Mark Darnell said the fixed-wing, private plane went down about 200 yards into the woods, making recovery efforts difficult. He says the victims have not been removed from the wreckage.

The plane narrowly missed the home of Douglas and Lori Eaton. The Eatons say they awoke about midnight to hear what sounded like a helicopter and then a loud explosion. Lori Eaton says she ran into the woods and called out for any survivors. But, she says she received no answer as the plane burned.

The crash is about a mile north of the Rochester International Airport.
