2010 Stinger Mikey Reynolds was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the fifth round, 2012 Stinger Forrestt Allday went to the Boston Red Sox in the eighth round and 2011 Stinger Ricky Knapp shortly after in the eighth round to the New York Mets.

For Reynolds it was the third year in a row he’s been drafted. The Baltimore Orioles took him in the 30th round in 2011 and the New York Yankees in the 20th round last season. Going back to school paid off for him as he hit .342 for Texas A&M and led Division I in hits early in the season.

Allday, a senior at Central Arkansas, was skipped over in 2011 coming out of junior college and again in 2012 after his first year at the Bearcats.

His numbers became too much to ignore this year.

He was fifth in Division with a .503 on-base percentage and hit .365 with 3 home runs.

“It actually caught me by surprise,” Allday told the Central Arkansas sports website. “I was on the phone with another team when my name came up on the screen. We kind of had an idea before the draft who was interested, but it’s really a very hectic process once it starts. … It’s definitely a dream come true.”

Allday broke a Northwoods League record for the Stingers last season, walking 77 times to set the single-season mark.

Three picks after Allday was picked, the Mets grabbed Knapp out of Florida Gulf Coast. The junior righthander posted a 2.10 ERA and struck out 74 in 102.2 innings for the Eagles.

Knapp started six games for the Stingers in 2011 and went 5-1 with a 2.63 ERA.

The draft resumes today for rounds 11 through 40. More Stingers could get selected, including Steven Brault, Dillon Haupt, Sean Dwyer, Kenny Roberts and Scott Lieser.
