74-year-old Spicer man killed when pickup collides with semi east of Lake Lillian

LAKE LILLIAN — The driver of a pickup died as a result of a two-vehicle crash reported around 9:45 a.m. Thursday east of Lake Lillian.

According to the State Patrol, Elroy Knake, 74, of Spicer, was driving a 2002 Ford pickup southbound on Kandiyohi County Road 2 and collided with a 1999 Freightliner semi driven by Neil A. Dovenmuehle, 50, of Hutchinson.

Dovenmuehle’s semi was eastbound on Highway 7. He was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway 7 was closed and traffic detoured for a time after the crash. Also responding were the Kandiyohi County and Meeker County sheriff’s offices.
