74-year-old Spicer man makes appearance on sex charges

WILLMAR -- A 74-year-old Spicer man made his first appearance Thursday on criminal sexual conduct charges for allegedly sexually abusing a young boy about 10 years ago.

Marlin Leroy Kroona faces three felony charges, two first-degree charges and one second-degree count, in Kandiyohi County District Court.

Unconditional bail was set at $100,000 with conditional bail at $25,000. His next appearance is Nov. 2.

The charges were filed after sheriff's deputies were called to a verbal domestic between Kroona and a 20-year-old man on Aug. 9.

The younger man said he had awakened to find Kroona to-uching him.

He also said he had been sexually ab-used by Kroona ab-out 10 years ago and had never reported it.

The man was later interviewed and reported that he had spent time at Kroona's home on Green Lake and that the abuse happened in the summer of 1999 or 2000.

He said that Kroona told him it was "their secret" and that he had not reported it because he didn't want to disrupt his family.

He said he felt compelled to report the abuse after the Aug. 9 incident.
