80-year-old Morris, Minn., woman dies in Pope County crash

GLENWOOD -- An 80-year-old motorist was killed in a broadside-type accident at 11 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Pope County Road 18 and Minnesota Highway 29.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that Eldora Eich, 80, of Morris, died after the 2001 Chevrolet Lumina she was operating westbound on County Road 18 collided with a 2003 Chevrolet travelling southbound on Highway 29.

The 2003 Chevrolet was driven by Marvin Ackerman, 60, of Valley Springs, S.D. Ackerman and his wife, Karen Ackerman, 59, were both transported to Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood after suffering minor injuries.

A passenger in Eich's vehicle, Kaitlyn Jenson, 16, was also transported to Glacial Ridge Hospital for minor injuries.
