ACGC holds off late surge by Paynesville

GROVE CITY -- A quick start enabled Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City to collect a 38-27 win over Paynesville Thursday night in a West Central South Conference wrestling duel.

The Falcons -- behind pins from Hayden Rouser at 119 pounds and Matt Lee at 125 -- won the first five matches to take a 22-0 lead. Logan Peterson started the duel with a major decision at 103 and Robert Rasmussen at 112 and Lee Whitcomb at 130 won decisions in ACGC's opening outburst.

John Dorf give Paynesville its first win with a third-period pin at 135 pounds, but the Falcons would get a pin from Matt Meyer at 145, a major decision at 160 from Michael Kramer and decisions from Larry Bomstad at 140 and Ryan Larson at 171 to extend their lead to 38-9.

The Bulldogs closed out the night by getting pins from Andrew Moser at 189 pounds, Trey Stanger at 215 and heavyweight Dominick Platow.
