ACMC honors NL-S doctor

WILLMAR -- Affiliated Community Medical Centers announces ACMC-New London-Spicer physician Dr. Richard Wehseler has been selected to receive the Fourth Annual ACMC Physician Excellence Award. ACMC created this distinguished award to annually honor an outstanding ACMC physician for his or her leadership, innovation, clinical knowledge and dedication to patients and communities.

Nominees for the award are selected by their peers. Also nominated were Dr. Glenn Buchanan, ACMC-Willmar and Dr. Richard Horecka, ACMC-Benson. ACMC's board of directors has the final and difficult decision of selecting a winner based on the individual's contributions and accomplishments.

"Dr. Wehseler received several nominations from colleagues for this award," said ACMC Medical Director Dr. David Newcomer. "He is a smart, caring, yet humble doctor, who is a great teacher and a strong leader in our clinic system and the community. ACMC is proud to honor Dr. Wehseler with the 2011 Physician Excellence Award."

Dr. Wehseler has been a family medicine physician with ACMC in New London-Spicer for 13 years. Along with his busy patient schedule, Dr. Wehseler is also chief of staff at Rice Memorial Hospital and the assistant Kandiyohi County coroner.

He was named the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians 2010 Family Physician of the Year and has served on other health care-related committees.
