African Development Center plans street celebration Thursday for grand opening in Willmar, Minn.
WILLMAR -- The African Development Center will celebrate the grand opening of its Willmar office Thursday.
The office is located at 518 Litchfield Ave. S.W. The African Development Center purchased the building and recently remodeled it.
The center is based in Minneapolis and has been working with businesses in the area for several years. The Willmar office will work with the growing African communities in Marshall, St. Cloud and Willmar.
The African Development Center offers small business loans and other financial services to anyone who qualifies, regardless of their ethnicity. Its representatives also work to develop understanding between different cultures.
The schedule for Thursday includes a community gathering from noon to 1 p.m. with food and refreshments. An African Development Center presentation and guest speakers from the community will be featured.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for 1 p.m., including the ambassadors from the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. The center recently joined the chamber.
Litchfield Avenue will be closed for the open house and celebration, which is scheduled to last until 7 p.m. Refreshments will be provided along with products from local vendors and music.
