WILLMAR - Ridgewater College will host more than 100 area high school juniors and seniors Friday at its annual Ag Career Expo. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday on the college's Willmar campus.
Participants will hear recent agriculture program graduates discuss their experience as a student at Ridgewater, and their current careers, as part of a panel discussion. Following this presentation, guests will be divided into small groups pertinent to each individual's area of interest within the field of agriculture. Second-year agriculture students will present and/or demonstrate on various topics and skills that Ridgewater students learn in the classroom and at internship sites. Topics include crop production, equipment operation, use of GPS in agriculture, dairy management, and general livestock production, just to name a few.
The goal of the expo is to give high school students the opportunity to see and hear firsthand from current and former students about career opportunities for program graduates.
