BIRD ISLAND - Ag Riederer, age 91, of Bird Island died Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia. Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island with Rev. George Schmit as celebrant. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday 5-7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island. Visitation continues Thursday at the funeral home from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Agnes "Ag" Riederer was born January 29, 1922 in Brookville Township, rural Springfield, MN. She was one of thirteen children born to Joseph and Mary (Wenisch) Turbes. Ag was united in marriage to Wilbert Riederer on November 4, 1941 and they were blessed with three children. Ag and Willie lived and farmed at rural Bird Island. In 1982 they moved into town. Ag started an upholstery shop in 1964 which she operated for 35 years. Ag was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the CCW. She had enjoyed baking, especially making pies, sewing, and quilting. She truly loved their neighborhood and the friendships shared while doing things such as freezing peaches together or decorating their homes with Christmas lights. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ag's family warmly remembers her dedication in taking care of Willie these past several years.

Ag is survived by her husband Wilbert Riederer of Bird Island, her three children: Becky (and John) Strukel of Side Lake, Laura Willegalle of St. Cloud, and Les (and Jane) Riederer of Bird Island; her five grandchildren Mike (and Corie) Strukel of Prior Lake, Julie (and Doug) Host of Brainerd, Todd Willegalle of Sartell, Amy (and James) Garza of Danube, and Tracy Riederer (and Greg Hammer) of Blaine; her four great-grandchildren: Alex, Jenna and Erin Host and McKenna Hammer; her sister Chris Nelson of Sleepy Eye; and her three brothers: Lawrence (and Darlene) Turbes of Springfield, Arnie (and Dorothy) Turbes of Springfield, and Leroy (and Charlotte) Turbes of Kandiyohi. Ag was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law Dick Willegalle, and her siblings Marie Vogel, Sally Peters, Eleanor Veenstra, Cecilia Reupke, Pete Turbes, Albert Turbes, John Turbes, and Bernard Turbes.
