AHEC has new interim director
WILLMAR -- Steve Moburg has been named the new interim director of the Southern Minnesota Area Health Education Center. He will hold the position for one year.
The Southern Minnesota Area Health Education Center is part of a collaborative statewide network managed by the University of Minnesota and headquartered at Rice Memorial Hospital.
According to a news release from Rice Hospital, Moburg as interim director will provide administrative leadership for the center, including regional development of a service platform to support health careers promotion, student and resident experiential education, community health awareness and continuing education. A crucial and primary responsibility is developing, implementing and securing the financial sustainability of the Area Health Education Center through grant writing and funding source identification.
Moburg began his new position on April 5.
"I have served on the board of another AHEC region and am excited to serve in this new capacity," he said. "It is our goal to provide opportunities to individuals with the interest in health care careers by working with educators and providers in this part of the state, with the ultimate goal in maintaining access to good health care in the region."
Moburg has worked in health care administration for 30 years, most recently with Paynesville Area Health Care System. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and his master of arts degree in health administration from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga.
He and his wife, Janell, live in Paynesville where they have raised two daughters.
