Albin I. Skogstad, age 92, of Kerkhoven, went to meet his Lord and Saviour Monday, April 7, 2014. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church followed by Burial at Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Kerkhoven from 5:00 until 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials will be given to the Missions Albin supported. www.hafh.org

Albin Ingolf Skogstad was born June 19, 1921, in Woods Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota, the son of Ingolf and Myrtle (Lund) Skogstad. He grew up on the family farm, attended District 79 School and graduated from Kerkhoven High School. He was united in marriage to Mildred Anna Danielson on June 25, 1947. The couple lived on and farmed the family farm. In 1985, he semi-retired from farming and he and Mildred then moved to Kerkhoven. They would spend the winter months in Arizona.

Albin had a passion for farming especially enjoying the cattle and horses. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and golfing.

Albin and Mildred were blessed with eight children; Marilyn Brownlie and John, Barbara Smith and Dale Harder, LaReau Skogstad and Regina Wells, Colleen O'Bryant, Lyndon Skogstad and Linda Martin, Rachel Hall and Johnny, Karen Lush and Roger and Gini Connell and Ron.

Albin was a member of the Kerkhoven Evengelical Free Church where he was the oldest active member. He served his church by holding many offices on its board and as a Sunday school teacher. He was also active with the Woods Township Board, Farm Bureau, KMP Telephone Board, Shipping Association Board, Kerkhoven School Board and as a 4-H Leader.

Mildred passed away on March 27, 1998. On November 4, 2000 he married Lilly Arvella Turnquist.

Albin is survived by his wife, Lilly of Kerkhoven; 7 children, 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

In addition to his first wife, Mildred, he was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lorene M.Bierman, daughter, Colleen R. OBryant and grandson Tyler R. Lush.
