The class is designed to educate employees who serve or sell alcohol about Minnesota laws on providing alcohol to people under the age of 21 or to intoxicated people.

Two sessions will be offered, from 2 to 4 p.m. or from 7 to 9 p.m. in the training room at the Willmar Fire Station.

Those interested in attending are asked to call 320-214-6700 with the number of employees who will attend each session, to aid in planning for handouts and seating.

The class covers checking and evaluating identification, personal and professional liability, safety tips for handling irate customers and what to expect when calling for law enforcement assistance.

The Police Department provides the class as a free service, and the instructor is authorized by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Alcohol & Gambling Enforcement Division to issue certificates verifying attendance to all who complete the class. The certificate is good for two years.

The course is offered at least twice a year to give all liquor establishments the information needed to pass their routine compliance checks.
