WILLMAR - Aldora M. Franzen, 89, of Willmar died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Copperleaf Senior Living in Willmar. Her funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, July 22, 2013 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar, with burial at Svea Lutheran Cemetery in Svea. Visitation will be 5-7:00 pm, Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Aldora Marlene Franzen, born January 31, 1924 in Willmar, was the daughter of Carl H. and Amy V. (Freed) Lindblad. She grew up on a farm southeast of Svea. She attended country school at District 83 and graduated from Willmar High School in 1942. She worked at the Svea Store and worked various jobs. On February 9, 1947 Aldora was united in marriage to Harold C. Franzen at Svea Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children. Following their marriage they lived in Svea and the surrounding area. Aldora was a homemaker, drove school bus and taught piano lessons. She later worked at the ASCS Office in Willmar for 22 years, retiring in 1989. In 1996, they moved into Willmar. Harold preceded her in death February 20, 1998. Aldora moved to Copperleaf Senior Living in October, 2012.

Aldora was baptized and confirmed her faith at Svea Lutheran Church where she remained a member and served as church organist for 40 years. She became a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she served as organist for the Wednesday Matins Services, sang in the choir and played in the bell choir. She was also active with the Quilting Group and Circle.

Aldora’s family remembers her love for embroidery, flower gardening and baking. They will especially miss her pies and flatbread. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her great-granddaughter, Brianna, keyed the term “Old Grandma”, of which all of the other great-grandchildren, kindly called her.

Surviving are her children: Brian (and Bev) Franzen of Spicer, Bonnie (and Gary) Grund of Willmar, and Brad (and Bonnie) Franzen of Spicer; six grandchildren: Jayme (and Tim) Starkenburg of Willmar, Julie (and Scott) Kastner of Spicer, Kelli Grund (special friend Jason Schriener) of Willmar, Beth Franzen of Willmar, Barbi Franzen of Fargo and seven great-grandchildren: Jordan and Noah Starkenburg, Brianna, Austin and Ian Kastner, Kaiden Grund, and Jocelyn Franzen. Also surviving is her sister, Eileen (and Ralph) Olson of Willmar, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and her grandson, Jared Franzen.
