NEW LONDON -- Alfrida Christenson, 86, of New London died Friday at GlenOaks Care Center in New London.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
She was born March 26, 1921, in Irving Township, Kandiyohi County, to Leonard and Barbara (Tjernalel) Anderson. She grew up and attended country grade school in Irving Township.
She married Irving Christenson on May 2, 1942, in Missouri. They moved to the New London area in 1947. She worked at Boston Café, made lefse at the New London Bakery, and then worked at Jennie-O Foods until she retired. Irving died in 2004.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her children: Barb (and Barney) Schranck of Lakewood, Colo., Gail (and Ryan) Newville of Spicer, Jeff (and Carol) Christenson of Malden, Mass., Bruce (and Diane) Christenson of Willmar; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Bernice Metcalf of Minneapolis, Alice Christenson of New London, Ellen Torkelson of Minneapolis, Lars (and Walda) Anderson of Belgrade, Robert (and Helen) Anderson of New London, and Rudy (and Inez) Anderson of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and four brothers.
