Alice Chamberlain March 9, 1906 - Aug. 26, 2009
CLONTARF -- Alice E. Chamberlain, 103, of Clontarf, died Wednesday at Golden Living Center in Benson.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and parish prayer service at 6 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
She was born March 9, 1906, in Hancock to John Albert and Emma (Fennell) Johnson. The family moved to Clontarf. She attended Clontarf schools, graduated from high school in Northwood, Iowa, and attended the Morris School of Business.
She married Ellard Chamberlain Sr. in 1928 in Clontarf. They lived in Clontarf, and she was bookkeeper for 35 years for the family-owned business, Chamberlain Oil Company, which they began in 1949. Ellard died in 1967. She moved to Golden Living Center in 2001.
She was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church.
She is survived by four children: Ellard (and Mary) Chamberlain, Nadine Marsnik, Molly Hanson and Deann (and Dave) Johnson; 19 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons-in-law: DuWayne Hanson and George Marsnik; one brother; two sisters; and two infant sisters.
