Alice Grussing April 4, 1924 - Aug. 28, 2009
RENVILLE -- Alice Ida Grussing, 85, of Renville, died Friday at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia following a three-month illness.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Renville. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Homes of Belle Plaine.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church and for one hour prior to the service Monday. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville.
She was born April 4, 1924, in Winfield Township, Renville County, to Julius and Ida (Schmidt) Kemnitz.
She married Alvin J. Grussing on June 28, 1941. She worked as a cook at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was active in the ladies groups.
She is survived by her children: Duane (and Phyllis) Grussing of Forest Lake, Darrell Grussing of Renville, Gwen (and Paul) Buran of Ham Lake, Douglas (and Sandy) Grussing of Hector, Dean (and Brenda) Grussing of Little Canada, Beverly Grussing of Renville, and Delton (and Ruth) Grussing of Andover; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother: Arlan (and Lois) Kemnitz of Chaska.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 8, 1974; one grandson; and six brothers.
