DAWSON -- Alice Josephine Anderson, 93, formerly of Dawson, died Wednesday at Madison Lutheran Home in Madison.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements are with Hanson and Dahl Funeral Home of Dawson.
She was born May 28, 1916, to Nels and Anna (Johnson) Bengtson in Dawson. She attended school in Canby, graduating in 1935. In 1936, she began nurses' training at Dawson Hospital where she worked for six and a half years and then at the Canby Hospital for five and a half years.
On Dec. 18, 1947, she married Wallace G. Anderson. They farmed for 35 years. After Wallace's death in 1989, she moved to Pleasant View Apartments for five years. In 1996, she entered Madison Lutheran Home.
She belonged to a homemakers group for several years, was a member of various circles at Grace Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school in her earlier years. She had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1956. She had worked for several years for the Lac Qui Parle blood bank.
She is survived by her daughter: Cindi (and Don) Hillman of West Fargo, N.D.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Miller of Madison.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
