HASTINGS -- Alice Johnson, 93, of Hastings, formerly of Montevideo, died Friday at Ruth Homes in Hastings.
The service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home in Hastings. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Cemetery at Montevideo.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home in Hastings. Local arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo.
She was born March 14, 1915, in Swenoda Township near Benson to Albert and Gina (Haugen) Svea. She attended rural Swenoda Township schools.
She married Ernest B. Johnson on Aug. 18, 1936, in Benson. She was a homemaker. After their retirement from farming north of Montevideo, they moved into town.
She had been active in the Ladies Aid groups of Mandt and Jevnaker Lutheran churches of rural Montevideo.
She is survived by sons: Arnold (and Diane Bode) Johnson of Lakeville and Dennis (and Juliet) Johnson of Hastings; and daughter: Sherry (and Francis) Larson of Negaunee, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother: Chester (and Arlene) Svea of Benson.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; daughter-in-law: Janice Johnson, two sisters; two brothers; and three infant siblings.
