Alva M. Brown Jan. 19, 1914 - March 12, 2009
LITCHFIELD -- Alva Martha Brown, 95, of Litchfield, died Thursday at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.
The service will be at 2 p.m. March 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Burial will be in Arndahl Cemetery in Acton Township, Meeker County.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church. Memorials to Augustana Homes and Trinity Lutheran Church are preferred. Arrangements are by Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.
She was born Jan. 19, 1914, in Lynn Township, Meeker County, to Peter and Ella (Dobberstein) Miller. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1932. She was a dental assistant for five years.
She married R. Kenneth Brown on May 12, 1940, in Hutchinson. They lived on a farm near Grove City. She was a homemaker and assisted on the farm. She moved into Grove City in 1981. She worked at the school as a kitchen helper with the school lunch program and retired in 1994, but continued to help several shut-ins for a few years. She was a member of the hospital auxiliary and enjoyed working as a volunteer in the gift shop. Over the years, she was a member of a Bible study group in church, taught Sunday school at Arndahl Church and helped with the youth programs in Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City.
She is survived by her children: Annette (and Virgil) Pehle of El Paso, Texas, Leighton (and Elaine) Brown of Alexandria, Dennis (and Marcia) Brown of Grove City and Bonnie (and Mark) Westmiller of Hutchinson; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren/
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975, one brother and one sister.
