Alvin 'Bud' Raddatz Oct. 22, 1930 - Dec. 7, 2009
WOOD LAKE -- Alvin "Bud" Raddatz, 79, of Wood Lake, died Monday at Granite Falls Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Redwood Falls to Hugo and Cora (Otto) Raddatz. He attended Redwood country school through the fourth grade. The family moved to Wood Lake in 1940 and he attended Wood Lake Public School. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He returned to Wood Lake and worked as an electrician until 1956.
He married Darlys Schulz on April 30, 1960. They ran a dairy operation in rural Wood Lake. He was a member of the American Legion Post 556 in Wood Lake, the Lions Club and spent 17 years as the Wood Lake Township Supervisor.
He is survived by his wife; children: Jeff (and Angie) of Bailey, Mich., Gary (and Linda) of Wood Lake, Brad (and Robin) of Wood Lake and Becky (and Todd) Omtvedt of Alexandria; eight grandchildren; siblings: Silas Raddatz of Wood Lake and Shirley Mancini of Hibbing.
He was preceded in death by one grandson.
