LAKE LILLIAN -- Alvin Ray Gilberts, 99, of Lake Lillian, died Saturday at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. Burial is in the Community Cemetery, Lake Lillian.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at the K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

He was born June 13, 1909, at Blue Earth to Sam and Mabel (Owen) Gilberts. The family moved to Kandiyohi County where he attended country school southeast of Lake Lillian.

He married Evelyn R. Kostka on April 4, 1946. They farmed south of Lake Lillian until 1948 when they purchased a farm in East Lake Lillian Township. He was a lifelong farmer, raising hogs, turkeys and dairy cows.

He is survived by his children: Darlene (and Matt) Fix of Cudahy, Wis., Bob (and Sally) Gilberts of Litchfield, Gary (and Lois) Gilberts of Hector, Lyle (and Barb) Gilberts of Blomkest, Luann Gilberts of Winona, and Randy (and Peggy) Gilberts of Lake Lillian; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Violet Madsen of Lake Lillian and Alice Mae Olson of Fergus Falls.

He was preceded in death by his wife in November 1998, two grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
