Regal scored four times in the third for a 4-3 lead. Josh Krupke supplied an RBI single and Andy Hadley squeezed a run home. Another run scored on a base-loaded walk allowed by Norway Lake-Sunburg starter Chris Braaten.

Starbuck 2, Paynesville 1

This was a terrific pitchers' dual matching the Pirates' Aaron Savelkoul and the Stars' Jon Hoffmann.

The game was tied 1-1 through seven innings after each team scored a run in the fourth.

With one out in the bottom of the eighth, the Stars' Joe Heidelberger singled and Ryan Ganderud bunted him to second. Zach Lagred then singled to right center to drive in the go-ahead run.

Paynesville threatened in the ninth, putting runners on second and third with one out. But when Brett Savelkoul tried to score on a bloop single behind short, Ganderud threw him out at home plate.

It was Savelkoul who gave the Pirates' a short-lived 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when his RBI single followed a double by Keagan Meagher.

Chad Andreas' RBI single in the bottom of the fourth scored an unearned run to knot the score 1-1 for Starbuck.

Hoffmann gave up eight hits, walked two and fanned eight. Aaron Savelkoul's four-hitter included three walks and eight strikeouts also.

Starbuck will host Norway Lake-Sunburg at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Minnewaska High School.
