Amateur Baseball: NL-Spicer rallies past NL-Sunburg

SPICER -- Jay Magnuson's second sacrifice fly of the night capped a New London-Spicer rally in the ninth inning as the Twins edged Norway Lake-Sunburg in a County Line League game Friday.


Kevin Soine led off the ninth for the Twins (4-0, 4-0) with a single and Scott Rambow followed with an RBI double to tie the score at 5-5. Derek Amundson then came in to pinch run for Rambow and he moved to third base on a Mike Danielson single. Jeremy Dirksen then drew a walk to load the bases and Magnuson followed with a fly ball that allowed Amundson to score.

Nathanial Swoyer collected the win for the Twins after tossing a complete game with 11 strikeouts. Swoyer gave up 11 hits, but only one walk.

Scott Rambow doubled twice and Danielson singled twice to pace the Twins' offense. Darren Ogdahl and Jake Rambow added doubles.

James Cortez went 3-for-4 with two doubles and Marc Beckman slugged a solo home run for the Lakers. Aaron Zimmer and Jordan Johnson supplied two hits apiece.

Bird Island 6, Arlington 5

Shawn Dollerschell walked, stole second base and moved to third base on a groundout before scoring the winning run for Bird Island (3-2) on Taylor Wertish's single up the middle with two outs in the ninth inning.

The Islanders outhit Arlington (3-4) 8-3 with Wertish, Tyler Hebrink and Mark Neubauer collecting two hits apiece. Luke Kramer added a double.

Dylan Gass struck out four and gave up no earned runs -- three unearned -- in two innings of relief of starter Andy Stephens to earn the win.
