The 51st annual induction banquet will be held Sept. 14 at the St. Cloud Rivers Edge Convention Center, which houses the baseball museum on the second floor.

Jones, according to the bio posted on the Minnesota Amateur Baseball HOF website, played baseball for Raymond High from 1954-57 and town team ball for the Rockets from ’56-69. After moving to Litchfield, he managed the Blues for one season (1977-78) and helped establish the Litchfield Baseball Association, where he continues to serve as treasurer. He coached Babe Ruth for 10 years and Cal Ripken youth baseball for 20 years. He was a key figure on the committee that developed the Optimist Baseball Park, where he still helps with maintenance.

After high school at Granite Falls, Richter played college baseball at Moorhead State and St. Cloud State. He played amateur ball for the hometown Kilowatts and has served as manager, fundraiser, caretaker, umpire and promoter. He served as co-chair of the 1989 State Amateur Tournament in Granite Falls and Marshall and assisted in its return in 1999. He’s been on the state amateur baseball board for 20 years and has been the president the last six. In 2007, Richter received the Mike Downs Award which signifies outstanding service to amateur baseball.

Also being inducted are Joe Driscoll of Le Sueur, who played in over 1,200 games and in 24 state tournaments for eight different teams, and Joe Jarvis, a player/manager for the Hinckley Knights in nine state tournaments and now a long-time regional commissioner.

Tickets are $25 with a Sept. 6 deadline. Send check or money order, with return address, to Bob Karn, Secretary, MABHOF, 541 Brook Lane, St. Cloud, MN, 56301.
