Amateur Baseball: Rockets crush Granite Falls
RAYMOND -- The Raymond Rockets continue in an orbit well above the rest of the Cornbelt South amateur baseball.
This time the Rockets blasted Granite Falls 10-0 in eight innings on Friday at Lilliberg Field.
The win boosted Raymond's record to 11-1 in league games and 19-6 overall.
When playoffs start in about three weeks, Raymond will be trying for a repeat visit to Class C state where they were in the final eight last year.
The Kilowatts are a young team in a rebuilding mode after years of success with a veteran line-up that won a state title in 2002.
They stuck with Raymond through four innings. But in the bottom of the fifth, the Rockets made a mid-course correction and collected seven runs. Mike Kragenbring's two-run double was one of five hits around three Granite Falls errors and two walks.
Kragenbring went 3-for-3 and Jed Nelson 3-for-4 in a 15-hit attack off Kilowatts' starter Mike Arneson and reliever Josh Neu.
Winning pitcher Nate Hebrink gave up only two singles in seven innings and struck out nine.
