STARBUCK -- Jon Hoffmann struck out at least one Sacred Heart batter in every inning and finished with 15 as Starbuck upeneded Sacred Heart 5-3 in a Cornbelt League baseball game on Sunday.

Joe Heidelberger produced the big hit for the Stars, a two-run double in the sixth inning.

Hoffmann allowed nine hits but got himself out of many jams. He only walked on batter. He struck out two batters in the first, second, fourth, fifth and ninth innings and one in the other four innings.

Heidelberger and Mike Andreas had two hits each for Starbuck.

Nate Hebrink went 3-for-4, including a triple, for the Saints. Jeremy Hinderks, Nate Hebrink and Jeff Hinderks had two hits apiece.

Matt Koenen was tagged with the loss, allowing eight hits in eight innings.

The Rockets exploded for 15 hits, including Mike Jeseritz's two-run homer in the sixth inning. Jeseritz finished 4-for-5.

Zach Nelson went the distance, scattering nine hits, for the win. He walked two and struck out fout.

Jed Nelson went 3-for-4. Jordan Smith, Tom DeBoer and Tyler Steen had two hits apiece for Raymond.

Brett Savelkoul hit a solo homer in the eighth to account for Paynesville's lone run. Losing pitcher Aaron Savelkoul was 3-for-5.

Bird Island 3, NL-Sunburg 2

Ben Aaseth scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom half of the 11th inning for Bird Island (3-8, 3-9) on a wild pitch. Aaseth singled to lead off the frame and advanced to second on Stephen Engelmann's sacrifice bunt before Nate Schlagel hit two batters to load the bases.

Erik Gass got the win in relief despite walking two NLS batters to lead off the 11th. But the Lakers failed to capitalize, even after loading the bases in the 10th.

Schlagel had struck out the first four batters he faced and threw five scoreless innings before losing control in the 11th.

Tyler Hebrink's RBI single and Ben Aaseth's sacrifice fly in the fifth gave Bird Island a 2-0 lead. Grant Johnson tied the game in the seventh for the Lakers (3-6, 3-7) with a two-run double.

Shawn Dollerschell cranked out three hits to spark Bird Island (4-9) and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. Dollerschell doubled in the first inning, slugged a solo home run in the third and singled in the fifth.

Andy Stephens struck out six and gave up four hits en route to shutting out Gaylord. Stephens threw 31/3 hitless innings before Brad Walsh singled with one out in the fourth for Gaylord.

Jesse Bjur drove in Bird Island's first run with a single in the first.

Litchfield outhit Clear Lake 13-7, but the Blues left 12 runners on base.

Joe Buschette was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and drove in a run for the Blues. David Pennertz finished 3-for-4. Terry Euerle had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs. Shane Gutormson also had two hits and drove in a run.

Stephen Pennertz worked the first five innings and was tagged with the loss.

Kyle Systma and Sam Item had two hits apiece for Clear Lake. Tanner Brooked pitched six innings for the win.

In a see-saw game, Montevideo left the bases loaded in the sixth and nine innings.

Cameron Vien and Ryan Tostenson had three hits apiece for the Spartans. Tostenson and Joe Schlagel drove in two runs each.

Tim Epema, the third Montevideo pitcher, took the loss.

After giving up eight runs in the first 4Zc innings, Milroy pitcher Ryan Sanow was replace by Josh Ramos, who blanked the Spartans on four hits the rest of the way to earn the win.
