PAYNESVILLE — A pair of shutouts tossed by Josh Bungum and Aaron Savelkoul propelled Paynesville past Starbuck 5-0 and 2-0 Sunday in a County Line League doubleheader.

The teams were scheduled to play Friday in Starbuck, but the recent rains forced a postponement.

Bungum held Starbuck to four hits and struck out 11 in the opener while going 2-for-3 at the plate. Savelkoul then limited the Stars (1-7 in league) to three hits in the second game.

Paynesville (3-5, 4-5) is off until this Sunday when its hosts the Atwater Chuckers in another league game starting at 1:30 p.m.

Paynesville 5, Starbuck 0

Bungum would get the only offense he would need in the first inning when Keagan Meagher hit a two-run single. Bungum then helped his own cause by slugging a two-run double in the second.

Mike Andreas had two of the Stars’ four hits.
