Amateur Baseball: Sacred Heart edges Milroy to stay perfect
SACRED HEART -- Jeremy Hinderks tossed a complete game and Josh Hebrink provided the winning hit as Sacred Heart remained unbeaten by edging Milroy 4-3 in a Cornbelt League game Friday.
Hinderks threw seven shutout innings before Milroy (2-2, 5-2) plated three runs in the eighth to cut the Saints' lead down to a run. Justin Schlemmer and Eric Dolan knocked in the first two runs for the Yankees with RBI singles.
Hinderks then induced two groundouts in the ninth before getting a strikeout to end the game. Hinderks struck out seven and surrendered seven hits and two walks.
Hinderks also scored the first run after leading off the fourth with a double. He advanced to third base on Mike Kuschel's infield single before coming home on Geoff Nelson's single.
Sacred Heart (4-0, 9-0) extended its lead in the sixth by plating three runs. Jeff Hinderks drove in Jeremy Hinderks with a single and Josh Hebrink later followed with a two-run double that brought in Nate Hebrink and Jeff Hinderks and gave Sacred Heart a 4-0 lead.
Milroy starter Josh Hadley was tagged with the loss after being responsible for giving up all eight hits and four runs in 5Zc innings.
Schlemmer and Dolan both had two hits for the Yankees. No Sacred Heart player had more than one hit.

Raymond (4-0, 7-0) got a three-run homer from Jason Meyer in the second inning and solo shots from Jed Nelson in the first and Jordan Smith in the third.
The Rockets pounded out 14 hits with Tyler Steen sparking the offense by going 5-for-5 with three doubles, a triple and a single. Meyer and Steen drove in four runs each while Smith scored four times.
Tyler Knott struck out 12 and gave up just one hit -- Ben Aaseth's two-run homer in the first -- in five innings of work to get the win.
Bird Island (1-3, 1-3) also had Luke Kramer slug a two-run homer in the ninth. Kramer and Stephen Engelmann had two hits each for the Islanders.
