Amateur Football: West Central Broncos fall short in debut

BURNSVILLE — The West Central Broncos made their Midwest Premier Football League debut on Saturday but it wasn’t a happy affair, with the Broncos falling 20-12 to the Burnsville Silverbacks.

Tarrell McDuffie lead the Broncos with 59 rushing yards on five carries and Corey Hanson made two catches for 35 yards.

Several Broncos played strong defensive games, with Kyle Weinandt making 11 tackles, recording a sack and blocking a punt, and Eric Johnson counting 2.5 sacks among his five tackles.

John Lankenau made 8 tackles, including a sack, and Joel Bauman and Brandon Karon both intercepted passes. George Polston recovered a fumble.

The Broncos play next at the Brainerd Lumberjacks at 7 p.m. Saturday.
