DAWSON -- Amer Curtis Boraas, 83, of Dawson, died Wednesday at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a closing prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

He was born June 14, 1925, in Madison to Alfred and Mathilda (Morseth) Boraas. He lived on the family farm and later moved to Montevideo to work at the Ford garage.

He married Virginia (Augeson) Hermanson on April 6, 1957. They moved to Dawson and operated the Standard gas station on Highway 212. He later opened Amers Auto Service in south Dawson until he retired in 1994. He entered the Johnson Memorial Home on July 18.

He is survived by his wife of Dawson; four sons: Terry (and Karen) Hermanson of Baxter, Ken (and Terri) Hermanson of St. Cloud, Robert (and Pam) Boraas of Benson and Brad (and Juliane) Boraas of Gluek; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother: Beaumont Boraas of Madison; and a sister: Margaret Renstrom of Willmar.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
