American Crystal records second-biggest crop in company history

FARGO - American Crystal Sugar Co. harvested its second-biggest crop this fiscal year.

The cooperative, which held its annual meeting today in Fargo, harvested 11.6 million tons in the 2008 fiscal year, during which sugar beets harvested in 2007 were processed

The 2007 total trails only the 11.9 million tons harvested in 2006.

American Crystal is owned by 2.900 shareholders/growers.

Wahpeton, N.D.-based Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative, the region's other sugar beet cooperative, will hold its annual meeting Tuesday, also at the Holiday Inn in Fargo.
