Anderson wins Eagle Creek stroke play
WILLMAR — Taking his own advice, Danny Anderson didn’t let Lakeland champ Andy Jacobson out of his sight on Sunday at the Eagle Creek Stroke-Play Championship.
Anderson coupled a 34 trifecta for a 6-under par 102 to Jacobson’s 34-36-36-106. Matt Gorans played even par golf for third.
Anderson placed second to Jacobson at the 83rd Lakeland Tournament at the end of June, commenting at the time that you can’t let Jacobson get far out front because he’s nearly impossible to catch.
Jim Schammel won the Seniors Flight by seven strokes with a one-under 71. Red Johnson and Bill Dale tied for second.
The Women’s Championship went down to the last hole. Down by a stroke, Lori Jacobson birdied No. 18 for an 80 while Jean Larson bogeyed to finish at 81. Larson, who was seven strokes down after nine holes, had birdied No. 17 to take a one-stroke lead.
