Ann K. Zieske Jan. 1, 1917 - March 2, 2009
CLARA CITY -- Ann Katie Zieske, 92, of Rolling Meadows, Ill., formerly of Willmar and Clara City, died Monday at Northwest Community Hospital in Rolling Meadows, Ill.
The services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Bethany Reformed Church or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with the Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg.
She was born Jan. 1, 1917, in rural Clara City to Albert and Helena (Gerdes) Bohlsen. Following her mother's death when she was 3, she was raised by her extended family. When she was 12, she joined her father on the farm. She attended rural elementary school and moved to her grandmother's to attend high school in Clara City. She moved to Minneapolis and, after completing beautician school, she worked at the Marselm Beauty Shop in downtown Minneapolis for many years.
She married Raymond Zieske in 1940 in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis until 1958 when they moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., and then to Pontiac, Mich. They lived in Nayak, N.Y. and Trenton, N.J., from 1942 to 1946 and she worked in an aircraft factory.
She was a member of the Willmar Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon with her husband and as an member of the circle and adult Sunday school class. She also was a square dancer with the Jolly Twirlers.
She is survived by her husband; her son: Randolph (and Patricia) Zieske of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; two grandchildren; a son-in-law: Jack Dobbins of Haddonfield, N.J.; and a stepbrother: Wallace Kluver.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Faith; two sisters; a stepbrother; and a stepsister.
