Ann P. Ward July 10, 1916 - July 5, 2009
SPICER -- Ann Peck Ward, 92, of Spicer, died Sunday at her home.
The service will be at a later date.
Arrangements are by Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. Memorials may be made to Rice Hospice in Willmar.
She was born July 10, 1916, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Clifford and Mary (Brown) Peck. She graduated from All Saints High School in Sioux Falls, attended Connecticut College in New London, Conn., and graduated with an English degree from Mills College in Oakland, Calif.
She married John Ward on Jan. 25, 1941. In 1946, they moved to Kansas City and founded a food brokerage business, Ward Marketing Company. During her 50 years in Kansas City, she was a member of St. Andrew's Church, the Friends of Art, The Carriage Club, and served on the boards of the Child Abuse Prevention Association, the Crittenten Center and the Rosebrook Center. She served twice as president of the Mills College Club of Kansas City and was a regional governor of Mills College for six years.
She spent every summer at a cabin on the north shore of Green Lake, Spicer.
She is survived by three children: Anne (and Jim) Siewert of Atlanta, John Jr. (and Nancy) Ward of Kansas City, Mo., and James Ward of Spicer; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
