WILLMAR -- Ann Peterson, 79, of Willmar died Thursday at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour before the service at the church.
She was born April 5, 1929, in Lone Tree Township, Chippewa County, to Philip and Elizabeth (Tebben) Berends. She grew up in the Maynard area, graduating from Maynard High School in 1946. She then began working for the V-Stores in Clara City as a secretary.
On Aug. 11, 1950, she married Donald B. Peterson in Clara City. They moved to Willmar where they raised their family and he worked for Burlington Northern. After the children were in school, she worked for Lampert Building Center, Northwest Building Center, Cenex and eventually GTA-Harvest States, retiring in the mid-1990s. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she had been active with ladies aid.
She is survived by her children: Carleen (and Clyde) Boyer of Winter Haven, Fla., Thomas (and Laurie) Peterson of Spicer, Bruce (and Karla) Peterson of Willmar, Barry (and Kim) Peterson of Eagan, Susan (and Brad) Hansen of St. Cloud, and Julie (and Scott) Christensen of Savage; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings: Alvin "Mike" (and Carol) Berends of Maynard, Jo Ihlaug of Montevideo, Cora Steffens of Wadena, Elaine (and Daryl) Weiss of Echo, and Betty (and Jerry) Erickson of St. Louis Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 3, 2007; an infant son: Craig; and one brother.
