MILTON, Wis. -- Anne Marie Wanke, 98, of Milton,Wis., died Aug. 21 at her home.
Services were Aug. 26 at Hope Lutheran Church in Milton. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 20, 1909 in Renville County to Frederick and Martha (Pockrandt) Toltzmann. She graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1928 from Danube High School. She attended Renville Normal School and was an elementary teacher at various schools in Renville County. She was a charter member of the Danube American Legion Auxiliary.
She married Clarence Wanke on Sept. 25, 1938. They moved to Rockford, Ill, and, in 1948, they bought a dairy farm near Milton, Wis.. She was a member of the Otter Creek Mother's Club and a 4-H sewing leader. She was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church in 1974.
She is survived by her children: Sharon Simpson of Marietta, Ga., and Bruce (and J. Anne) Wanke of Milton, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, four brothers, five sisters and one granddaughter.
