"Some county citizens, who wish to remain anonymous, wanted to help Mr. Wagar out," said John Tradup. "They asked me to establish the account."

Wagar, 50, pleaded not guilty last week to three misdemeanor charges for a homecoming week incident that allegedly included spraying toilet-papering teenagers with a squirt gun filled with fox urine. He faces charges of fifth-degree assault, theft and disorderly conduct in Kandiyohi County District Court for the Sept. 16 incident. His next court date is Jan. 20.

The story of Wagar's charges has generated numerous letters to the editor and Web site comments at www.wctrib.com, along with coverage from state and national news organizations.

Contributions may be sent to: Scott Wagar Defense Fund at Lake Region Bank, PO Box 1740, Willmar MN 56201.
