APPLETON -- Off-road vehicle enthusiasts will be converging on Appleton for the annual convention of the All-Terrain Vehicle Association of Minnesota on Sept. 14-16. The three-day event will be held at the Swift County Fairgrounds.
ATV enthusiasts are encouraged to attend the convention and participate in a wide range of activities. There will be an organized ATV ride at the Appleton Area Recreational Park, which features over 22.5 miles of trails for off-road vehicles.
ATV riders will be able to ride their machines directly from the fairgrounds to the park. The City of Appleton has designated a route that will lead the riders through the city to the park's location one mile east of the city.
Along with opportunities for recreation, the convention also offers short information sessions about ATV laws and safety issues. There will also be time to discuss ATV issues with officers of the ATVAM and legislative representatives. The Department of Natural Resources will also offer information on the status of forest classification and trail development throughout the state.
The event coincides with Appleton's annual Applefest celebration. There are numerous free activities for the while family, including live music on Friday, a fireworks show on Saturday, a swap meet, manufacturer displays and a craft show.
There will be a motocross and ATV race on Saturday at the fairgrounds grandstand.
