Unconditional bail was set at $30,000. Riley's next appearance is Jan. 23 in Kandiyohi County District Court.

According to the complaint, Kandiyohi County Sheriff's deputies were called Thursday morning to a rural Pennock residence along 135th Avenue Northwest regarding an assault.

A man there, who was bleeding from his mouth and nose and who had other facial injuries, told them that he'd had an argument with Riley, who then hit him several times in the face.

The deputies located Riley and arrested him on the assault charge and on probable cause on terroristic threats and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in Chippewa County.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where doctors located a minimum of four fractures in his face including his nose, eye socket and two fractures of his cheekbone.

The man was hospitalized overnight.
