While a wind chill advisory remains in effect until noon across much of west central Minnesota, the temperature is starting to warm a bit.

The Arctic polar vortex is retreating northward into Canada and the coldest air mass has shifted eastward, according to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen.

Improving weather conditions are expected throughout today in west central Minnesota, with western counties experiencing the warming trend first.
