SPICER — The New London-Spicer Twins scored six runs in the seventh inning to down the Willmar Rails 15-5 on Friday at Green Lake Diamond.

Nathaniel Swoyer drove in three runs and also picked up the pitching victory. He was 2-for-four and he worked all seven innings, allowing four earned runs and striking out three.

Jack Schwaegerl was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs and Scott Rambow homered and drove in two runs. Dean Stier and Patrick Courtney also had two RBIs.

Tyler Brower was 3-for-4 and had an RBI and Darin Ditterich was 1-for-2 and drove in two runs.

Granite Falls 4

Josh Cunningham was 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, coming a triple away from the cycle in Atwater’s win over the Kilowatts.

Cunningham’s homer led off the game, and the Chuckers roughed up Granite Falls for five more runs in the fourth and seven in the seventh.

Justin Schroeder and Ryan Walsh each had two hits for Atwater.

Jordan Tanner tossed five hitless innings to earn the win, and Walsh finished with two innings of relief allowing one earned run.

No. 3-seed Atwater opens postseason play against 6-seed Paynesville on 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Atwater.

The winner will play No. 2-seed Norway Lake-Sunburg on Sunday at Sunburg.

Monte loses late lead, falls to Cottonwood

COTTONWOOD — Cottonwood scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to overcome a two-run deficit and defeat Montevideo 7-6 on Friday.

Montevideo scored twice in the seventh to send the game into extra innings, then scored twice in the eighth to take a 6-4 lead.

Cottonwoods Seth Boerboom was 2-for-4 and drove in four runs.

Cottonwood won despite managing just five hits and committing four errors, aided greatly by 10 Montevideo walks.

Montevideo’s Austin Hiepler was 4-for-5 and drove in a run and Zac Enevoldsen was 3-for-4 and had an RBI.

Markus Kranz and Jordan Thompson both had two hits and drove in runs, and Spencer Hildahl was 2-for-2.

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop scored twice in the top of the seventh to break a tie and defeat Kerkhoven on Friday in Kerkhoven.

Kerkhoven’s Rylan Hatlestad had three hits and drove in a run, and Caleb Collins and Fred Mansfield both had two hits, with Mansfield driving in Kerk’s other run.

Kerkhoven opens the playoffs hosting Wheaton at 6 p.m. Monday.

Ben Valek hit a second-inning solo home run and Mike Shake scattered eight hits in Big Stone’s victory on Friday in Madison.
