The River board presented its 2009 River Tributary Award to Homan and its 2009 Confluence Award to Doering during its annual meeting on July 27 in Redwood Falls.

Homan is director of the Lac qui Parle-Yellow Bank watershed district and has brought to fruition a wide range of water quality projects in that role. She was also cited for her work beyond the call of duty: Homan holds women's workshops, authors newspaper columns and leads canoe and bus tours to promote water quality and conservation work.

Doering is currently employed with the City of Redwood Falls, but has served eight years as the director of the Redwood Cottonwood River Control Area. He was honored for bringing many diverse stakeholders together on behalf of improving the tributary, and providing crucial leadership in promoting the Lake Redwood Reclamation Project.
