Arleen R. Hegna May 25, 1918 - Feb. 12, 2009
GRANITE FALLS -- Arleen Rubell Hegna, 90, of Granite Falls, died Thursday at the Renvilla Nursing Home in Renville.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church in rural Sacred Heart.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
She was born May 25, 1918, on her parents' farm near Maynard to Thrond and Emily (Opdahl) Ellingboe. She attended Hillcrest District 44 Country School and graduated from the Maynard High School. After high school, she attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis.
On Sept. 30, 1950, she married William Hegna.
She was a member of Hawk Creek Lutheran Church serving as assistant organist for a number of years, a member of ELCA and Magdaline Circle, teaching Sunday school, vacation Bible school and Luther League advisor. She also sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Valdres Samband, the Elvedal 509 Sons of Norway and the Granite Falls Farmers Union Local.
Surviving are her children: Paula (and Bruce) Iverson, Orlynn (and Carol) Hegna, Jeannette Agre, Marcene (and Robert) Lerud and Rolland (and RaeAnn) Hegna; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and a grandson.
